Cool, blue tool – Circle One 10.5ft
Having been in the game since the early days, Circle One’s SUP pedigree speaks for itself. Focusing more on the all round appeal of stand up, rather than getting too niche, the brand’s 10.5ft is a tool for those who love all areas of SUP.
The 10.5ft’s baby blue livery was well liked by everyone and Circle One’s finishing is top drawer – the diamond deck pad, in particular, looks and feels great. Its rounded pin tail suggested what was in store as we headed out for a session, and the reasonable weight helps give the board momentum through the water. One surprise was the lack of side bite fins. Coming with a single central fin, some paddlers may prefer to get two extra boxes added for further versatility on waves (you can do this through a local shaper/ding repair specialist).
For a round nose style board, the Circle One 10.5ft tracks through the water pretty well. As most are aware, SUP Mag UK’s test ground requires a bit of a paddle to any waves; the Circle One chewed up these miles with ease. Hovering above flotsam and chop, it doesn’t slap and gives a comfortable and stable ride.
We only managed to get the 10.5ft going in a few dribblers, but go it certainly did (as you can see from the accompanying vid on the online version of this mag). With only a few paddle strokes, riders can pick up even the tiniest of rollers – and once going, you just keep on…
Carving on a liquid wall is a progressive and more drawn out process, although it’s still possible to get a few swooping turns going. And we have no doubt that nose riders will love the ample room up front for getting a few toes over.
Back on the flat and the Circle One is extremely stable, giving poise and control to all paddlers – from beginners to advanced. If you’re searching for a summer SUP vehicle that covers a wide range of stand up areas, then Circle One’s 10.5ft will have you sorted.
CONCLUSION
A well manufactured SUP from a bona fide UK stand up paddle boarding company, Circle One’s 10.5ft is all round stand up fun that comes in an eye catching package. A super comfy ride from the deck, and efficient forward thrust, will see flat water aficionados having fun in the sun, while the small wave performance will have swell heads grinning from ear to ear too. For paddlers after increased wave performance it may be worth getting thruster fin boxes fitted but, all in, Circle One’s 10.5ft is affordable and as stoke inducing as it looks.
