Windsurf: Egg ya mates on, the best way to improve – Ben Proffitt’s training diaries

Some of you may have already seen this but recently during his stint out in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Windsurfing.TV‘s Ben Proffitt and crew (including UK pro coach Colin Dixon) showed how egging your mates on can lead to vast improvements with your on water windsurfing performance.

In the following videos Ben describes how laying down the gauntlet, with a forfeit for those not stepping up (in this case head shaving), saw the boys head out and push themselves into something new – push loops.

Now don’t get us wrong. We’re not suggesting everyone go out and learn the pushie. We’re also not suggesting that the forfeit be of a head shaving nature. The concept can be tweaked slightly for all manner of moves, however.

For instance if you’re considering carve gybing for the first time then getting a bunch of mates together, all with the same goal, would be a good way of using peer pressure to your advantage. He/she not stepping up to the plate could then be footing that evening’s bar/restaurant bill.

Whatever you decide it’s worth watching Proffitt’s three part push loop training diaries edits for some tips, advice and general tomfoolery. Who said it’s not fun learning something new?
