Home SUP spot:
Favourite SUP disciplines:
Surf is my favourite with downwind racing as my next.
Favourite SUP spot:
Guethary – France.
Bucket list top three SUP locations:
Noosa Heads – Australia, Maldives, Uluwatu
SUP highlights/achievements to date:
2009 BSUPA Champion for both surf and race. Channel crossing in 2010.
To develop my stand up paddle school Tribal Wave and my coaching to the highest level possible. Also to develop with others both national paddle surf and downwind events.
Best SUP session:
Last year I did a Euro trip to The SUP Race Cup and Lost Mills events. Racing against the best in the world. It was a real travel adventure, one I won’t forget.
Favourite piece of SUP gear:
My new Starboard full carbon Pocket Rocket. It is 8.5ft x 30” and I absolutely love it.
Typical SUP day:
Wake up and check both Magicseaweed and Sharkbait for local surf status. If it is on I work my day around that. If not I seek out downwind possibilities or make the most of my coaching time.
SUP training routine:
I do not have a routine as such and feel that by being out on the water you are already training. I like to mix it up by paddling hard out to markers in chop, getting the glide on the way back in and then finishing off with a good sea swim.
Adam Zervas, Olas McCloud, Tim Mellors and Guts Griffiths. Although I do not see these guys that often I feel our surfing SUP heritage bonds us all.
Final shout outs:
Firstly to my wife Ruby for her love and support, all of my surfing buddies, home and away, the surf fraternity who get out to our Tribal Wave Movie Nights and support the local SAS and RNLI community and of course to all of my sponsors.
