Layering up your wetsuit for the coldest sessions is a way to stay even toastier. It’s good practice to use thermal line rash vests with your wetsuit or add a top layer such as the Zhik 3mm insulated neoprene jacket. I’ve long been fond of a layered system, as it can really protect against the cold. But equally, you can remove bits if needed.
For those not aware, Zhik is a premium watersports brand whose heritage stems from sailing. Their products, however, have far more versatility than just a dinghy, as the 3mm insulated neoprene jacket highlights.
I’ve used the Zhik jacket in various situations, from wing foiling to SUP. The oversized fit means riders can easily fit harnesses or PFDs beneath it, and the jacket won’t constrict or be detrimental to movement.

The heavy-duty front YKK zip is dependable, as are the zippered pockets, where you can stow all sorts of essentials you need to stay afloat. An adjustable hood is welcome when it’s raining or you need extra protection for your head.
A reinforcement strip is on the jacket’s backside tail. Laser-cut thumb loops on the sleeve and robust materials throughout ensure longevity. Personally, I think the Zhik 3mm jacket is a worthy addition to any paddler’s water wardrobe. It can even be used in warmer conditions when you need to take the edge off.
Conclusion
A fab piece of water wear, the Zhik 3mm insulated neoprene jacket fits various applications. From SUP to foiling and more, the jacket’s versatility is broad. Add this to your SUP kit bag and enjoy the additional warmth.
