Inaugural SUP Company Round Hayling Challenge

The SUP Company are pleased to be supporting this new event,  part of the iconic Round Hayling Race, now in its 35th year.

This Easter weekend will mark the start of the summer sports season with the return of the annual Good Friday ‘Round Hayling Island Windsurf, Stand Up Paddle Board and Open Canoe Challenge’.

Sponsored by The SUP Company, this year’s Stand Up Paddle Board challenge will kick off on Friday 3rd April at 12:00, at Hayling Island Sailing Club.

New for 2015 – entries into The SUP Company Challenge have the opportunity to complete the full Round Island course of 14 miles, as well as shorter distances of 9 miles and a 4 mile fun paddle in the picturesque Chichester Harbour. Included in the entry fee of just £30, event organiser SailRacer is issuing each entrant with their own world leading live telemetry system for the duration of the challenge. The system records course covered, distance and the speed providing valuable data for both event results and the paddler.

Formed in November 2014, The SUP Company represents leading SUP brands Jobe, Red Paddle Co. and Starboard. As title sponsor, The SUP Company are offering a host of prizes to podium finishers as well as the first female home in both the 14 mile and 9 mile categories – prizes from Moloko Paddles, Red Paddle Co., Jobe, Veho and Overboard waterproof bags

If you don’t own a SUP, you can still enter as The SUP Company will help you discover a Stand Up Paddle Board tailored to your needs. A range of boards are available to hire for the 4 mile and 9 mile races at only £35. What’s more, competitors who choose to hire a Stand Up Paddle Board who then go on to make a purchase from The SUP Company will enjoy free board hire and race entry, that’s a discount of £65 on your purchase!

Marshalling on the water is provided by the highly experienced team at Hayling Island Sailing Club, while ashore The SUP Company sponsored bus will be enable competitors who stop part way round the course make it back safely to the sailing club.

Also for those that just want to come and sample Stand Up Paddle Boarding but not enter any of the challenges, The SUP Company will have a selection of boards for you to try from the very best brands in the world, as well as the legendary 6 person Red Paddle Co. To include a hire board in your booking – please select the ‘SUP Package’ at £65 when booking. The package includes the hire of a inflatable SUP board, adjustable alloy paddle and leash. Available boards are Jobe Aero 11.6 and Jobe Aero 12.6. Please specify your board size when ordering. Hire boards are limited in number and will be let on a first come, first served basis. All hire boards are excluded from the 14 mile challenge.

Please note some board restrictions do apply for certain challenges:
* Board size – only 12’6 and 14′ boards can do the 14 mile event.
* Any board size can enter the 4 and 9 mile challenges.
